Week 2 TOO BJF Nov 21 2016
WELL HELLO THERE, TOOK LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO SEND A EMAIL RIGHT?!?
SO, I'm gonna make one big email that I'll send to everybody. It will
basically sum up what's happened over the last week (two weeks this
time) however I'm still going to respond to your individual emails as
well right after I send this big email, but only cuz I love you.
Anywho, these last two weeks have been interesting. It started with a
9 hour flight which I couldn't get any sleep on, then we went straight
to business. We met the mission president, Paperwork, visa stuff and a
bit of orientation. Then that same day we went out to try to find
people. I don't know how to speak German, I learned that early on and
it was reiterated when I attempted to speak to people. Course it's
always funny to see people's reactions when you say something weird
(my main issue is calling Men women on accident). Anywho I was
assigned to "Offenbach" as my first area, then I met my first
companion Elder Davis, who will be training me for a total of two
transfers (one transfer is 6 weeks). He's a awkward homeschooled kid
straight out of Utah, he's totally oblivious to a lot of jokes and
doesn't quite understand a lot of what I say even when it's in
English. But he's a good trainer and helps a lot, he's been on his
mission for 18 transfers.
We're in a district of 4 Elders right now (Elder Davis and I, Elders
Blau and Barker), smallest district in the mission I believe. I've
stuck a picture of our area on here, we live in the top left corner by
the church so we have a whole lot of area that never gets explored,
but I hope to change that pretty quick. We walk or ride trains and
buses everywhere, So a lot of time to practice my mediocre Deutsch
Sprache.
Offenbach/Frankfurt is a massive melting pot with a bunch of people
crammed together (literally every building has some sort of apartment
in it) we've got Turks, Arabs, Italians, Russians, Americans, Polish.
I'm surprised how often people can't speak English or Deutsche.
In addition to that we've got a really nice church building with our
German branch which is filled with excellent members. An American
military ward also meets in the same building. Outside There is
literally graffiti everywhere, the church building is the only
building that doesn't have any haha.
We've got a few consistent investigations so we teach somewhat but our
days mainly consist of walking the streets talking to people.
Other than that you're pretty much caught up. I see weird stuff, small
miracles, I'm slowly going crazy, and Everyone keeps telling me the
food here is amazing but I'm not too impressed yet, maybe that's just
cuz it's Offenbach.
I love you and hope to hear from your beautiful faces later in the week.
You third favorite missionary -Elder Füller.
