Week 3 BJF Nov 28 2016

Hello my beautiful family. Hope you had a good thanksgiving, ate lots
and felt a little fatter. I certainly did.
We had an unplanned celebration on Thursday when my Companion had a
quarterly interview with the mission Präsident. We thought it was at
the church building here in Offenbach but it actually was at the Stake
Center in Frankfurt so after waiting at the wrong church building for
a little while we call up our ZLs and asked what was up. So they
clarified it for us and we got to Elder Davis' interview about an hour
late. Buuuut oddly enough since we were late at that specific time all
the Senior missionaries and a few missionaries in the Frankfurt zone
were finishing their prep for thanksgiving. So Präsident Stoddard
invited us to stay, and we ate waaay too much, I've still got Turkey
in my fridge. So even though thanksgiving isn't a thing in Germany we
found a thanksgiving dinner. Which was a huge unexpected blessing.

This thanksgiving I'm grateful for a lot of stuff but I'm especially
grateful for all of you beautiful people. Every time any of you send
me an email I get a bit too excited, so much so that I believe Elder
Davis thinks I'm a bit mentally unstable.

So here in Offenbach we see interesting stuff and odd people all the
time as we walk around. Saw a guy sketchily cut a factory lock then
stash his bolt cutters in a bush, pretty sure I heard gun shots(the
cops here wear bulletproof vests and casually carry full auto machine
guns, so it's expected on occasion) I caught a butterfly, met our
first Buddhist lady who was one of the nicest people we've me, I now
carry 4 different BoMs in 4 languages cuz that's all I can fit in my
bag (we have about a dozen languages in the apartment), the
Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) is open and I hope to check it out
on some pday, lots of other little things, I could go on but I'd
rather tell you a funny story.

So a bit of explaining first. Here in Germany there are a bunch of
Jehovah's Witnesses. Lots of people think the LDS missionaries are
JWs, so they try to avoid us even though we literally have name-tags
that say otherwise. But the point is everyone knows the JWs, not
everyone know us.

So main story, in Marktplatz and anywhere that has a bunch of people
there are always these chubby little pigeons waddling around. I've
been tempted to kick one on occasion and so have other Elders (it be
super easy to catch one too) I heard a story that an Elder actually
did kick one, and better yet somehow somebody got a picture of it! It
went all over the newspapers and the header was "Jehovah's Witness
brutally kicks pigeon" with the paper roasting the JWs. The church
later called the paper and told them it was actually us but the paper
insisted "no it was definitely the JWs" and they ran with it even when
we admitted to it. If I could find a paper about it I would show you.
But it was probably one of the best stories I've heard so far.

I'll try including weekly miracles and be a bit more missionary like
later but for now I'm still trying to get in tune with the spirit.

SO fun things about the German language, a lot of the words are a
combination. So we have a city called Müllberg, Müll is a trashcan and
Berg is a mountain. Müllberg is a town called trashcan mountain. We
have another which is called Düsseldorf. Dorf being a small town and
Dussel being the noun for idiot, Düsseldorf means village of the
idiot. I love Germany. (This is just my understanding I might be wrong
idk)

Otherwise eats lots of thanksgiving leftovers, don't get stressed
about Cmas shopping, try not to kick any birds, and I'll write you
next week.

The least German guy you know -Elder Fuller

P.s. We've got this nice little Christmas video and "service advent
calendar" you can check out on Mormon.org. It's cute and it's what
we're trying to focus on for Weihnachten this year.

Prepare to be overloaded with pictures...

Mine Schmetterling Freund. (I just found out their wings are covered
in tiny scales, He's like a tiny flower eating dragon) (yeah I know
I'm stupid, shut up)
