Week 34 DTF Aug 14

Elections in Kenya have kept the Elders in their flats for 10 days.  That's 2 Preparation Days!!  We have been kept updated as to their safety and the conditions there in the country. They need to prepare for the worst and "shelter in place" since the missionaries are living throughout Kenya.  Violence could crop up anywhere and it is a risk to all.  Even the locals have kept close to home as there were threats of violence with the election of the previous president for a second term.

I heard they do not have gangs there but tribes. Local billboards have tried to unify the people together instead of splitting off into factions.

Daniel is deep in the "bush" where people are humble and need to work to eat.  They don't have time for violence and protests since there are so few.  But there are exceptions everywhere.

Of course with Daniel, there is always going to be a ton of fun and creativity.  In his area there are 4 Elders and one of them had a birthday.  They made a cake for him and sang to him. There is always physical activity like soccer and games.  Hopefully he got a chance to catch up in his journal and write a letter describing all of his experiences during this time which would make anyone stir-crazy for sure.

This is a baby camel spider that was in their apt.  Sheesh!  Couldn't they just put it on their finger and take it outside? I mean really now...it's just a baby one!
