Well, half way done. It has been a strange year.
In commemoration of this not so significant event Elder Y. and I
thought we'd have a special Pday. We began the day by swinging out to
the city of Essen to check off a bucket list item of eating some food
in the city of food. Essen is the German word for Food & Eating so now
we can officially say 'wir haben Essen in Essen gegessen'. It's the
little things.
Due to some faulty planning we did have an appointment with a member
from the branch right in the middle of the day followed by a short
meeting with our ward mission leader. So we scrambled to our
appointment and it was lovely. Very nice grandma with classic German
food. We also talked about temples.
Otherwise our week has been filled with ups & downs and interesting
experiences. Elder Y. Continues to reminisce of what he was doing a
year ago meanwhile I can't remember haha. But I got a small break when
I went on a split in Duisburg with our district leader.
We met with a cool dude in a mental hospital (crazy people are nice)
who isn't that crazy just a bit depressed and has surprisingly good
potential.
We also taught their friend from Ghana with a member who was
conveniently also from Ghana.
The fellow we were teaching is very prepared to hear the gospel. He
would answer his own questions right after he would ask them and it
seems I learned more from that appointment than he did. The member is
also the coolest dude ever and after our appointment I found out he's
the chief of his own tribe back in his homeland and he's got most of
the bible memorized in 4 languages which makes sense as he was
spitting biblical fire throughout our lesson.
Afterwards we were feeling pumped so we went back to downtown to do
some finding and without too much success until we met a dude by the
name of Chocolate Chip Muffin. Yes, that is his name. I've seen him
before as he's recognisable with his dreadlocks, huge pants, and bare
feet. He was certainly a character and Elder B. was ecstatic to have a
new friend in Duisburg. I'm just excited since he told me where to get
some pants like his haha.
This next weekend we'll get the chance to tune into General conference
which is like the Super bowl for Missionaries except a wee bit less
violent with an appropriate amount of snacks.
So we're pretty excited for that and I hope we'll get to learn some
stuff we can apply this next year.
Photos, video, talk to ya next week
-Elder Fuller
