Wk 16 RLF Apr 10

Well howdy! 

Let me just say Girona in the springtime, is basically heaven on earth. The wisteria is gorgeous and the trees are incredible, and the people seem to be much happier as well.  

  It's been an incredible week with plenty of ups and downs and lots of learning.   We were able to experience our first really bad lesson. It's a blessing cause we know where we need to improve and how we can communicate better.  We have been doing better with 12 weeks and being obedient, but I can definitely see places where we need to improve. 

 There is a bit of a feeling I'm having,  like there's a little piece of the puzzle I'm missing.  Perhaps its something God is giving to me slowly and eventually I'll see the whole picture.  

My spanish is not coming as quickly as I'd like, so this week I'm going to revamp my language study and hopefully get the advice of a native so I can learn faster.  

I really appreciate what president said about working smarter and harder in my interview with him this month. He said to get to know own the members and serve them, update the ward list and testify testify testify.   

It's been amazing to see how much the branch has embraced us as we have tried to get to know them.  We were able to see the hand of the Lord as one family of recent converts introduced us to their cousins and we were able to give them a fecha for the 22nd.  They're golden!  I'm so excited to see them in white!  They're so strong and absolutely faithful in everything we ask them to do, and I'm grateful the branch has accepted them.  

We are hoping to baptise on the beach, but with how far inland we are, it may not happen.  but if all our Fechas hold to their commitments we will have 4 baptised on that day, only two are really doing the things they need to do, but we have faith :)  

Hermana Richey and I are definitely getting along better and communicating more.  I'm doing what I can to be more humble and accept her criticism and advice.  I know we are here together for a reason and I've already seen the incredible effect she has had here.  

We have one investigator who has been investigating for a little less than a year.  Originally she started in the Hermanas area, but has recently moved to the elders.  We need to pass her over to the elders, but she is hesitant.  She prefers to be taught by the Hermanas and doesn't want to have to start over in getting to know new missionaries.  She knows the church is true and at this point is just making excuses as to why she isn't baptised.  It's amazing to see the incredible change in her just in these past 6 weeks, and I know she's ready to take the next step, but she is stubborn.  I love her her so much, but Hermana Richey and I both feel that the Elders need to teach her.  But I don't know how to show her that this is for her benefit, she told us that if it was going to be a problem that she would just stop taking the lessons all together.  It's something I'm struggling with and have prayed about a lot, but I'm just kinda stuck.  Elder T said he wanted to talk to her, so hopefully that will do the trick.  It's just crazy how much I love her and how much I want her to be okay and not just okay but baptised and preparing to go to the temple!  I want so much for her to experience the blessings God wants to give her.  I know the Lord is aware of her, so we're trusting in him now.  That's just what's been going on this week :)  

Ohhh And then, today for preparation day we got to go kiss the lleone, apparently if you kiss it that means you're coming back to Girona. So my question is how many times do I need to kiss it so I never have to leave?? 

Everything about this mission is so incredible, everything about being a missionary is extraordinary!  

We have our goals and I hope so much that we can get this ward excited about missionary work again, or even just excited about being members.    We have so much potential here and I'm so excited to see what the Lord will do.  

That's the update:)  and Hermana Richey is doing fine after she fell and hit her head.  It was scary for a minute but she's doing well.  

We are so blessed to have this gospel, and we have so much information and just incredible beauty God has given us.  

I love having the spirit and knowing that as long as what I'm saying is good, it's of God.  I am literally a representative of my savior Jesus Christ,  and I can literally talk to anyone anytime about him and his sacrifice and the plan of salvation in our lives.  We are so blessed.  

I can't wait for mothers day!! I'm so excited to get to talk to everyone:) It's going to be so much fun after almost 6 months!!! Woohoooo! And then another long stretch to Christmas,  and then a short 6 more months and I'll be home!! Whaaattt??? It goes so fast I can't imagine how fast it's going to be when I'm close to the end....it really goes so much faster when you throw yourself into the work and just focus week to week on the people that need you.  There is literally not enough time in the day :)  

I love you mommy!   No matter what happens I know this is where we need to be and what we need to be doing.  This is the Lord's work and we were chosen before we were born to bring people to Christ.  HOW incredible!  I love it :D  I do not have words to express. 

Wk 16 DTF Apr 10

Hey everyone! I hope life is treating y'all well! Yesterday we got transfer news! im still in Mombasa but my trainer Elder Sotia is going to bush! man im gonna miss that guy, He's a flipping legend! 

But my new companion is an mzungu named Elder Tucker! Its gonna be super weird seeing another white guy everyday but i think it will be a good thing!

So a couple days ago we had just gotten back to the flat after a long hot days work, We put that nights cooking supplies on the counter and got to cleaning up a little bit. Later, when i came into the Kitchen I saw this cat LITERALLY EATING OUR FISH THAT WE HAD JUST GOTTEN FROM THE MARKET! He somehow had the audacity to open our front door and sniff out our tilapia and just start chowing down. My companion came and saw, it was so funny to see him flip out and start yelling at the little thing in Swahili. We chased him out and Elder Soita insisted that we find him and eat him as revenge, I told him that wasn't very Christlike thing to do, and we both just started laughing like crazy.

Everyone in this city believes that cats are actually people who use vudu or something to transform into cats and sneak into your house to rob you. its super funny. 

Elder Estimer and I went into the forest again (dont worry this time there were no mangos) this time we found some cool stuff! I'll attach a picture. 

Also We had a couple more baptisms last week! Twins, brother and sister that we have been teaching for quite sometime! they are really young but man they love hearing the gospel its beautiful! They were so excited to be baptized and the smile on their faces were priceless! Their really is no better thing i could be doing with my time then this.

Wk 21 BJF Apr 6

This week our main work was moving from our apartment to another.
Since the other Offenbach missionaries were moved out and we probably
won't get another pair anytime soon, the office decided they would
close one apartment and keep the cheaper one.
It's a subtle change but we're not complaining since it's a very nice
apartment and it's only about 20 meters to the north.

Otherwise, Today we went to the Dom here in Frankfurt. It's a nice walk up some rather tight stairwells but quite a nice view from the top. 

I don't have a whole lot to else to say nor do I have the time So I'll just attach a ridiculous amount of photos and let them do the talking.

KENYA TEMPLE?!?!?!?! I thought my comp was joking!!!!!!!!

We're on a crazy delay for conference i might see it next week or the week after but that's so insane!!!!!  Yes we are going for the dedication. 100% 

I love when random people send me pictures!  This kind gentleman just happened to be visiting Mombasa on Sunday and cared enough to send Dan's momma a picture.  He said he looks and sounds great.  It appears to be so!

I'm really glad that you put the blog on the drive for me to read, cause either have literally no way to see things like that.  I am so glad he's doing better!!! I was so worried about him, pues claro.  I love all the pictures and they look SOOO HOT!!!that is coming for me in about a month dun dun DUUUUNNN

Ohhh yay!!! I'm so glad you got to go to a convention!  What did you think?   Yeah that's true,  all the weirdos, but then the super amazing ones Como mi madre.

That's such a good idea to help people her with her table!! Did you have any others you wanted to learn?? What was Lomi Lomi like??  

Yes!! I loved conference,  and this weekend we had 6 INVESTIGATORS IN CHURCH!!!  Literally all of them could be baptised this weekend,   GET IN THE WATERRRRRR!!!!! 

I'm super excited to see who goes first, I'll have to get pictures with all of them,  mom kid you not the Lord is incredible,  he makes miracles happen literally every single day.  Right now we're in a members house using their WiFi and they have all this food for us,  they are seriously so amazing I'll send you a picture of them too, I love them they're amazing.  The dad wants to get baptised but they just have to wait for their papers from,  Spain so they can get married.  They're so good though, everyone here is so amazing.  I feel so blessed.

Ission LITERALLY 2 MONTHS BEFORE I CAME!!! President Nelson of the quórum of the 12 apostles VISITED MY MISION!!! his granddaughter is serving in our mision so I think thats why  he came, but holy cow.  I wish I had been here, pero esta bien.  Yo se que esta experiencia es increíble 

MY companion and I are getting a long a little better I'm realizing where I have problems communicating.  Ahhh I miss you and dad so much right now, but no worries I'm not discouraged,  I'm just giving you details.

This week we got to go to figueres for preparation day, it's another Pueblo in our area about 45  might uses from Girona towards France.   We visited this fortress and took pictures and now we're chilling at this amazing members house.  We want to get a branch or even a ward out here in figueres but we need to get the ward up and running in Girona first.  So we need 12 priesthood holders and everyone to stay active.   Then we need about 40 and time members in figueres for another branch, but my area is Huge!!! I'll send you a screenshot would you can see what I mean.  We have like 40 pueblos that we literally cannot visit.  Cause we have no money or time.  So we focus on figueres and Girona.   Which is actually spelled Gerona in spanish but it's in catalán everywhere so I thought it was Girona hahaha haha.   Mal be mui bien in catalán.  I have this dreama that I stay in catalonia my whole mission,  two languages?? Heck yes!!! Catalán is basically a ,ore French version of spanish and I LOVE! IT.  I COULD literally stay in Girona for my entire mission.  I love it here so so so much.  And miracles happen and are going to happen I can feel it, I'm ready to work like, insanely hard.  Like....whoa.  we're running for 30 minutes in the morning and then we're doing insanity at night and I've lost 15 lbs already so yay!! But members feed us so much so that's a blessing.  We have zone enfoque this week which is always fun, and interviews with the president!! Sooo yay:)  I love you so much and I'm so grateful for your support!! And say thanks to dad for doing all those taxes I'm dying to know how much I get back.  Hopefully it will be enough to pay for the rest of my mission or the car :)  

Anywayzzz I definitely appreciative and always love more music and pictures,   you and dad need a file on the drive where you upload pictures of your mas tranquile life :)  you and dad should selfie more too, AND I need puppy pictures :) 

I love you so so much and If there is anything I can do please tell me, also I do message my Bros as much as possible, I'm gonna send y all some post cards next week I think,  what's Bens address???

Schönen guten Morgen,

Looking back this week has actually been pretty odd.

To start we've got a new investigator. We met him after checking a
lady's address from 2003. As we left we talked to the first man we saw
on the street. Elder Adams asked him what he believes the purpose of
life to be (it's actually an effective question) after an odd
explanation E. Adams then asked if he had any 'tips' for us. To which
he said "blieb treu und Lüge nicht" I could smell the alcohol on him
and he seems to have been drinking for many years now, but that's
normal in Germany. Our new friend then unexpectedly goes right into
the topic of religion, and we decided to meet again in the coming
weeks. We also learned he conveniently lived in the same apartment
building we had just come from. When we called him a few days later he
invited himself and a friend to church. He might be a miracle.....or
completely crazy.
We tend to meet a lot of those.

Here is an example of what I mean.
So, although I'm in Offenbach I somehow always end up at the Frankfurt
street displays. (That thing where a bunch of missionaries set up a
table of BoMs and do a mass contacting thingy) whether I'm on a split
or we just so happen to be in the area. I've lost track of how many
I've been to. I think I go more than a lot of the actual Frankfurt
missionaries.

During this last one while setting up, a man walked up to the table.
He was a tad shaggy but didn't seem totally crazy at first.
He then proceeded to announce (in English) that he was Jesus Christ,
that he was our God and that the universe obeys him so we should too.
While myself and three other missionaries gave him confused looks and
attempted to show him a BoM he then told us (with some profanity) that
he didn't need religion because he was going to destroy all the
churches in the world.
While the rest of us were still puzzled an Elder out of Brazil (he's
hilarious) then said "okay well, you wanna start with that one?" As he
pointed to the large Evangelical church nearby. And the guy responded
"yes I'll go right now" so the Elder went a short while with him and
the fellow walked off in the direction of the church with a surprising
amount of confidence to try and prove his celestial power.
Sadly.....no, he was not in fact any form of deity. Although I'm a tad
worried that we might have set lose a psycho on an unsuspecting group
of church goers.

Also we might have 52 Religion seeking Africans who might show up at
church on Sunday. I'm not sure if the members in the branch will be
happy or upset about that. I'm not sure what could happen but I'll
explain later if anything develops.

So yeah, to say the least this last week has been interesting. That's
not everything but just a couple events I thought I'd share with my
limited time.

Surprise, it's me!

I need to fill in for Dan here this on this week.  No time!!  BUT...we did get to catch him while he was online in Hangouts.  So we got to type back and forth instantly for a few minutes which was sheer bliss even though I felt like it was cheat chat somehow.  He said that it is just using technology.

What is really great is that the Senior couple from the mission office came to visit and she has a blog called

kenya.torriefamily.org

This is a great way to see pictures of the Elders they visited including Daniel.  I was so relieved and happy to see him eating dinner with other elders at the Jensen's home.  Her post is at the end of March called Mombasa Missionaries.
